The program conducts on-going serven-week video-based parent education classes throughout the Greater Bridgeport area. Classes are offered during the day and

the evening. The program is available in both English and Spanish. Anyone interested in improving their parenting skill are welcomed.

Program Description:

The Parenting Academy provides training for parents to improve their parenting skills.  The training is based on the premise that people are trained to be teachers,

truck drivers and hair stylists, but no one has taken the time to train a parent...and PARENTS have the hardest job of all.  The program is video based and offered

for 1  1/2 hours each week  for 7 weeks.  The classes provide information on understanding your child's behavior, discipline, instilling courage and self-esteem,

making responsibility a reality and creating cooperative kids.  Our goal is to help parents raise independent and responsible children.

The Parenting Academy offers the following courses:

Active Parenting Now for parents with children 2 to 12 years old

Active Parenting of Teens for parents with children 12 to 19 years old

1,2,3,4, Toddlers for parents with children from newborns to age five

Anger Management for Parents

Learning to Live with Children that are ADD/ADHD

Program Eligibility:

Any parent, grandparent or caregiver, relative are welcome to participate in the classes.

Accessing Services:

Parenting classes are offered at various sites in Bridgeport  during the day and evening.  Classes are also offered in Spanish.  Please call 394-6529 to register and

request information about when and where our next Parenting Academy classes are available.   

Client Fee:

There is a fee for service program. Some scholarships are available. Please call for information, 203 394 6529, ext 3319. Childcare is provided for most classes.
